PURPOSE:  The 3 on-going groups share a common purpose, though the focus and direction of each 'light' is distinct.

Consciousness is seeded through the ages in the hearts of mystics and through traditions of art, medicine and science. This ancient tradition of Love has tended this seeding for thousands of years. The 3 Lights Project is 3 groups in three distinct locations that are brought alive for this purpose. 

Through the Songs of Creation and the teachings of this tradition, we work in the personal unconscious as well as in the collective myths and complexes that have captured us. We work at a point in time where consciousness pivots. 3 Lights first to purify, then free, and then nourish the Muse, the Creative Imagination. We are given the seeds of new stories.

Central to the work of all 3 Groups is the dissembling of deep structures of violence in the psyche of individuals and our civilization. To undo the curses of racism, misogyny and prejudice that arise from a world view of white male supremacy, which is currently at the helm of global ecocide.

Art. Medicine. Prayer. How to respond to the crisis of meaning in our time? We call these disciplines together at the core of each person. As an artist can give herself entirely to the blank page, as a physician can give himself entirely to the precision required to reach the cure and as the ancient scribe vanishes into the mystery of Love, the 3 Lights awaken a passion and devotion to what lies behind life, what calls from the hidden depths.

LANTERN (Vermont & Maine) 7 YEARS: 2015-2021 (CONCLUDED in May 2022 due to covid)

Lantern is hidden.  A light hidden in the night of our collective psyche that bids certain wayfarers to leave home. This group travels together, as scribe into the unknown riverbeds of our western consciousness.  We no longer know the difference between imagination and fantasy and those who knew how to travel between these worlds in service to the soul of humanity and the Earth are very few now. To be received by the inner world requires training the imagination and a spiritual practice of atonement.  This group will include study and writing as part of the work.  

To be born into a time when the sacred root of life has been severed requires facing ourselves, in ways we have not heretofore imagined. The ecological extinction that we are living in is only one small part of the spiritual extinction.

Creative Imagination is the sixth sense. It can only be given. Its purpose is to merge one day with the hidden Light of Truth. And like a bee carries the yellow grains of pollen on her back, we return here, pollinators, with Love having washed our skin and eyes and minds. How Love enters this world, on our backs. How the performance, the ceremony of human consciousness is watched over. Wayfarers in search of pure water. Without the yearning of these travelers, meaning in this world ends.

Lantern will meet 2 times this year. We hope that the final gathering of Lantern will be mostly residential, with access to Zoom for those who cannot travel. And we will meet once more as part of the annual winter 3 Lights Retreat.

STREETLAMP (New York City) 7 YEARS: 2016-2022 (CONCLUDED in November 2022)

Streetlamp happens in the theater of the public domain. We work inside a 7-year "performance". Musicians, Dancers, Surgeons, Writers, Sculptors... a call to those artists who are working to see and hear what is coming. Those who feel a requirement to respond to the greying of our world. The Muse waits. The Medicine waits. The magic of creation, the sacred intelligence inside life, weaves stories of love back into life.

The work purifies and releases the imagination from the confines of this culture. Streetlamp calls to those artists, those human beings who cry out for Beauty, for training and companionship in the hidden chambers of Love, the original home of the Muse. 

A conversation in the middle of the night in the center of lonely in the rage of waste and every unspeakable word. A conversation that matters. That is given, not taken. That is given back, to the weaver’s hands. A conversation around which the city falls. Where all that we use to enforce our differences falls into rubble. A conversation that defuses the bomb secretly, that addresses the rose, once again, as the secret She is.

Streetlamp meets 3 times/year; 2 weekends/year on Zoom (and locally in NYC we hope) come fall as well, and once as part of the annual 3 Lights Retreat.

SONG OF HEAVEN IN 3 NOTES: THE DARK BEHIND THE DARK

We gather for retreat near the Winter Solstice once a year, 3 groups, 3 lights together. At the hand of this Song we respond to a desolate call that comes for us. This is not a retreat to "know yourself" as an individual, rather to enter the Oneness of life, where each note, each person is a unique expression of the One.

Her gaze is the Milk of God. One touch and She can heal all that is ill. The Song of Heaven in 3 Notes is a plea, a promise. It is a constellation of 3 stars, 3 notes, 3 directions, 3 worlds. Heaven Earth Human.  It comes alive in the innermost chamber of your heart, and calls to you. The human heart...imagine a golden compass that spins in the vast space between suns. Imagine within this oracle, there lies dormant the recognition of all sound, every name. We were given the capacity to live the communication between all worlds. The mystical feminine holds the key to this work of redemption.
